Google Merchant Center
Worth submitting to. Free organic placement on the Shopping tab for any product business, and the same feed is what paid Shopping campaigns run on — there is no reason not to set it up.
Free + paid upgrades · live in Feed review, typically 1-3 days.
Who actually reads it
Shoppers using Google Search and the Shopping tab with commercial intent — they are already comparing products by price and reviews, not browsing. As with Google Business Profile, there is no separate site to measure traffic on; the audience is Search itself.
What a strong listing looks like
A complete, accurate product feed — titles that match how people search, current price and stock, and GTINs where your category requires them. Feed quality is a ranking input in Shopping the same way content quality is in organic search, and a rejected or stale feed simply stops showing.

Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Free listings on the Shopping tab cost nothing; running Shopping ads on the same feed is paid.
Do I need a developer to set up the feed?
No — a small catalog can be entered by hand or via a spreadsheet, though most stores connect it through their ecommerce platform's built-in Google Shopping integration.
Is there a write API?
Yes — the Merchant API (formerly Content API for Shopping) lets you push product data programmatically. It is built for syncing a catalog you already manage elsewhere, not for creating the merchant account itself, which still goes through the sign-up form.
