Podcast Index publishes a developer API, but we could not verify this session, from a primary source, whether a fully self-serve add-by-feed-URL write endpoint is currently live without a partner arrangement — treat the web submission form as the reliable path until that is confirmed.
How is this different from Apple Podcasts or Spotify?
It is an independent, open index rather than a platform-owned one — it exists specifically so podcasts are not solely discoverable through Apple's or Spotify's walled gardens.
